The 12 Nervi projects on display were prototyped on the basis of modelling conducted by NerViLab of Sapienza, Rome and Mario Sassone of the Turin Polytechnic
The physical models of the works presented in the exhibition at the Laboratorio Nervi were conceived in order to contribute to the understanding of Nervi's thought by aiming to convey its most felicitous outcome: the spatial expressiveness of structural compositions communicated through geometric language. Hence the decision to propose abstract physical models, in which the static patterns, the geometries of the structural elements and their connections, the weaves of the ribs and the textures of the modular elements were clearly legible.
NerViLab's experience has made it possible to investigate the spatiality of the structural composition of Pier Luigi Nervi's works from a new perspective, offered by the careful combination of current computer modelling and rapid prototyping technologies.
